Penn State PRO Wellness Center launches video contest

Penn State PRO Wellness Center, together with the Kohl's Cares® Hospital Program, is asking families, schools and organizations based in Pennsylvania to participate in the Kohl's healthy Champions Video Contest.

The contest, which runs through May 31, is designed to:

  • Recognize community efforts to help reduce the trend of childhood obesity
  • Encourage healthy eating and physical activity
  • Highlight the work of families, communities and organizations engaged in promoting the PRO Wellness Center message of bringing healthy choices to life
  • Increase participation in community efforts to prevent childhood obesity

“Through this contest, we're inviting the public to use their creativity and briefly tell their story of how they bring healthy eating and physical activity choices to life,” says Donna Kephart, executive director of Penn State Hershey PRO Wellness Center.

Fancy video equipment is not needed to qualify. The Center is asking that families and organizations create a fun video that's between 30 and 90 seconds long. It should have a clear connection to childhood obesity prevention and describe how the contestants have worked to incorporate healthy eating, physical activity, or limited screen time at home, at school, or in the community. Participants will have a chance to win a MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, or iPad mini.

Contest details can be found at www.kohlshealthychampions.org.

“Obesity has become a major public health crisis in Pennsylvania,” Kephart says. “It's the Center's mission to educate and inspire youth and families to incorporate healthy lifestyle choices daily in order to combat this growing epidemic.”
