Harrell Health Sciences Library Newsletter April 2020

Director's note
As I write this, people everywhere are isolating themselves to prevent the spread of coronavirus. The physical Harrell Health Sciences Library space closed as of 5 p.m. March 17. Our entire faculty and staff is working from home.
Many libraries are closing their doors to help prevent the spread of the disease.
Libraries tend to be the heart of an institution or community; the place where everyone is equal and access is for all. It is hard for us as librarians to stop serving our communities. And although we are not in the "space" we call a library, we haven’t stopped serving.
Resources For our community, our resources are 99% digital. Access to thousands of journals and databases are still there for the community we serve.
Instruction We are continuing to teach information literacy, critical thinking, using a database or evidence-based resource and other topics from our home to yours via video learning/meeting software.
Interlibrary Loan (ILL) The library is filling ILL requests for our users as much as we can, but only in digital formats - no print. We rely on other libraries to be operating in a digital capacity as well.
The world is a different place right now. All we can do is take it day by day. Hopefully we will be moving back toward the library as "space" again in the near future.
