Clinical Research Center Observation Suite Open House
January 16 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm
Penn State Clinical and Translational Science Institute’s Clinical Research Center at Hershey will host an open house of its new observational suites, available for use as part of its clinical research services to the Penn State community. These rooms are ideal for studies like smoking or vaping studies. During the event, lunch will be available first-come, first-served until gone. Attendees can tour the new space and learn its capabilities.
Two rooms are available; each includes one-way mirrored windows, a reclining chair and a desk with chair. A blood draw area with a privacy curtain and sink with running water is available directly outside one of the rooms.
These rooms have a special ventilation system. The overall airflow of the rooms is isolated to create ideal testing environments for tobacco/smoking, vaping, aromatherapy and similar studies, while maintaining the hospital’s non-smoking environment. The observer is in a neutral environment. In addition, each observation room can be adjusted to simulate seven different air profiles via a wall dial.
The two rooms contain ceiling-mounted high-definition cameras with pan/tilt/zoom ability, a ceiling-mounted microphone, an observation room speaker and push-to-talk intercom. The control room includes four-output headphone amplifiers, professional headphones, touchscreen operation and video recording via computer.
Full tours of the Clinical Research Center will be offered and staff will be available for consultations.
