Cultivating Health Empowerment: Transforming Diverse Lives for Optimal Health
Session #1: Common Health Challenges For Diverse Kids/Caregivers
During this session you will
- Gain an understanding of health challenges faced by children of color, children with disabilities, and LGBT children.
- Share information on disparate hospital outcomes and what we know about the impact of communication differences on health care.
- Provide opportunity for participants to share their experiences and identify opportunities to improve those experiences.
Penn State Health’s Office for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion introduces our 2023-2024 Community Health Equity Series, Cultivating Health Empowerment: Transforming Diverse Lives for Optimal Health. The series will consist of 11 sessions focused on providing diverse community members with information on advancing their healthcare and improving their health status. Sessions will be held at 7 p.m. and are available virtually through the Microsoft Teams format. The sessions scheduled for Oct. 19 in Reading, Dec. 21 in Lancaster, Feb. 22, 2024, on the West Shore, and June 20, 2024, in Hershey will be both virtual and onsite and will feature cooking demonstrations to promote culturally healthy lifestyles.
