Employee Blood Drive
June 4, 9:00 am to 6:00 pm
One event on July 14, 2020 at 9:00 am
Penn State Health has been holding employee blood drives to combat potential shortages.
Donors must be in good health, feeling well and weigh at least 110 pounds. Appointments must be scheduled so social distancing can be safely maintained. Make an appointment for this drive here.
As the health system returns to providing surgical care for patients whose treatment was put on hold due to the pandemic, the need for blood donations will increase. At the same time, fear of COVID-19 has reduced the number of blood donors, creating the potential for a blood shortage that puts patients at risk.
Blood donations are safe and do not increase the risk of contracting COVID-19. American Red Cross employees will follow thorough safety protocols during the drive, including pre-donation donor temperature screening, enhanced disinfecting, social distancing and staff wellness and protection.
Employees who are willing to donate but unable to participate in this drive can contact one of the following blood donor centers to schedule an appointment:
Penn State Health St. Joseph employees wanting to donate can make an appointment at the local Miller-Keystone Blood Center on Leiscz’s Bridge Road (GPS: 1047 Old Bernville Road, Reading) and donate under group 3199. Call 800-486-2566 to make an appointment.
