The Department of Humanities and Harrell Health Sciences Library invites the Penn State Health and College of Medicine community to join them for the Connecting Through Literature Book Club discussion of, Carlisle Indian Industrial School: Indigenous Histories, Memories, and Reclamations. Edited by Jacqueline Fear-Segal and Susan D. Rose. This collection interweaves the voices of students’ descendants, poets, and activists with cutting edge research by Native and non-Native scholars to reveal the complex history and enduring legacies of the school that spearheaded the federal campaign for Indian assimilation.

This year we will have 2 sessions, one via zoom on Oct. 25, 2023 the other in-person Nov. 1, 2023 at 12 noon – 1 p.m. in Room C1800, 1st floor BMR Building of Penn State College of Medicine. The Carlisle Indian Industrial School book is available online through the Penn State Library catalog.
