Health services and behavioral research seminar: “Unraveling the Social Determinants of Addiction”

September 17 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

“Unraveling the Social Determinants of Addiction” will be presented by Andrea Hobkirk, PhD, assistant professor of psychiatry and public health sciences at Penn State College of Medicine.

Dr. Hobkirk uses functional magnetic resonance imaging to investigate neurocognitive processes that influence the development and treatment of addiction. She is currently supported by a NIDA career development award to identify modifiable neuromarkers of tobacco dependence that can be used during treatment as objective markers of recovery. Dr. Hobkirk primarily conducts her research with socially and economically disadvantaged populations to better understand and address disparities in health and addiction outcomes.

Light refreshments will be served.

In addition to the in-person presentation, participants may join by calling 929-205-6099, meeting ID 353308790, or via Zoom webinar.
