In the Key of D is a free concert and community dinner series for health care providers, medical students, faculty and staff of Penn State Health and College of Medicine plus one guest per person.
Duo Chiaroscuro features Maria Corley playing the piano and Sarah Male playing the cello. The musical theme is “Song and Dance,” and will cover a wide range of styles, from liturgical music (Max Bruch’s “Kol nidre”) to jazz (Nikolai Kapustin’s “Nearly Waltz”). Represented composers include Alexander Glazunov, Pablo Casals, Enrique Granados, Gabriel Faure, Leslie Adams, William Henry Squire and Maria Thompson Corley, who will be represented by arrangement of “Motherless Child/Swing Low, Sweet Chariot.”
There will be a community dinner with the musicians following the concert from 6:45 to 7:45 p.m. in Room C1845 at the College of Medicine. Space is on a first-come, first-served basis and is limited to the first 50 people. Register to attend by emailing Tasha Cochran at email@example.com.
These performances by local and national professional musicians are sponsored by the Drs. Kienle Center for Humanistic Medicine and feature the Steinway D concert grand piano in Lecture Room D.
