Inaugural Lecture: ‘The Multiverse of Cells, Clinic and Cosmos: Decoding the Unifying Paradigms’

September 13, 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm

A head and shoulders professional portrait of Yatin Vyas, MD

Yatin Vyas, MD, MBBS

Dr. Yatin Vyas, Children’s Miracle Network and Four Diamonds Endowed Chair of the Department of Pediatrics and Professor and Chair of Pediatrics, will present his inaugural lecture Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2022. The lecture, titled “The Multiverse of Cells, Clinic and Cosmos: Decoding the Unifying Paradigms”, will be noon to 1 p.m. in person at the College of Medicine’s Junker Auditorium and virtually via Zoom.

Before joining Penn State Health and the College of Medicine in November 2021, Vyas was Mary Joy and Jerre Stead Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Iowa and led the division of Hematology/Oncology. During his time as division director, Vyas led the team at the Stead Family Children’s Hospital to become a beacon of excellence for pediatric cancer care. Vyas’ research is focused on defining the molecular cause and subsequent development of Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome (WAS), an inborn error of immunity. Research from his laboratory was essential in revealing for the first time an evolutionarily conserved, novel chromatin-resident role for WASp in gene transcription, genome stability and oncogenesis.
