Inclusion Academy – Culturally Responsive Care: Not What I Meant: The impact of language choice in patient care and ways of communicating respectfully in a multicultural world

Dr. Pamela Hays, will present a framework for understanding cultural influences related to several dimensions of diversity. Why any commonly used phrases and terms can be offensive? This session will offer respectful alternatives aimed at building positive connections with diverse patients.
Dr. Hays is a popular national presenter who provides workshops and trainings for mental health, social service, educational, and corporate organizations.
1. Gain an understanding of the connection between culture, identity, privilege, and oppression.
2. Learn why some terms and phrases are offensive, along with more respectful alternatives.
