
Safe Sitter Essentials Class
June 19, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm
The Safe Sitter Essentials program is designed for students aged 12 to 15 to help them gain the skills and confidence needed for babysitting or staying home alone. This one-day, instructor-led course covers:
- Safety Skills: Handling emergencies, preventing unsafe situations and managing weather-related issues.
- Child Care Skills: Understanding child development stages, diapering and behavior management.
- First Aid and Rescue Skills: Basic first aid practices and choking rescue techniques for infants and children.
- Life and Business Skills: Screening babysitting jobs, setting fees and professional conduct.
Please Note:
- Participants must be at least 12 years old by the class date.
- This course does not provide CPR certification.
- Students should bring their own lunch, snacks and drinks.
Registration and Fee
Fee: $25 – Check or money order payable to Penn State University, due at registration on the class day.
