December 10, 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm
“Non-English Speaking Diversity and Inclusion in Research: Spanish Population” will be presented at the next Penn State College of Medicine SMaRT Connects webinar.
William Calo, PhD, and Sol Rodriguez-Colon will provide an overview of the importance of diversity and inclusion within research, specific cultural considerations within the Spanish population, and effective strategies to maximize reach and inclusion of non-English-speaking Spanish research participants. Attendees will engage in breakout sessions to discuss barriers and successful strategies to effectively include non-English-speaking Spanish research participants in projects.
SMaRT Connects, a resource of the Staffing, Mentorship and Research Training (SMaRT) Program, supports human subjects research professionals. The sessions provide timely College of Medicine research process information, professional development and networking. At each session, attendees will learn the latest tips, techniques, policies and procedures from subject matter experts who facilitate discussion, answer questions and provide guidance.
Penn State College of Medicine’s SMaRT Program facilitates the navigation of the College of Medicine resources for researchers and research support staff. The program team is available to work with investigators and staff at each stage of the research process, creating alignment with the necessary skills and resources when they are most needed. The program is available to all research support faculty and staff at the College of Medicine. It is supported by Penn State Clinical and Translational Science Institute. Request a consultation here.
