Webinar/Workshop: Talking to your Children About Race, Racism and the Current Political Movement – Infants/Toddlers (birth to 36 months old)

June 25, 11:30 am to 12:30 pm

Parents who haven’t talked to their children about race, racism or the current political movement may be feeling uncertain about what to say and how to say it. Even if the topic of race has been a frequent discussion, it can be hard to know how to talk about the murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and Ahmaud Arbery and the related protests and demonstrations.

This workshop will help participants determine what information to share and how, offer tips on navigating these conversations with children and provide a space to practice starting the conversation with direct coaching and supportive feedback. It’s never too young to start the conversation.

This workshop will be led by Dr. Jessica Mattingly, assistant professor of psychiatry and behavioral health at Penn State College of Medicine.

The session will be held via Zoom. Zoom links will be provided in advance of the event for those who register.
