The Penn State Health 22-Day Inclusion Challenge – June 14: Diversity Conversations about Gender

June 14

The Penn State Health 22-Day Inclusion Challenge
WEEK 3 – Theme: Social Justice for Diverse Populations

June 14: Diversity Conversations about Gender

Social justice refers to the balance between individuals and society measured by comparing wealth differences, personal liberties, and fair privilege opportunities for different populations. For women, one aspect of social injustice is treatment based on age. In a Ted Talk by Naeemah Clark, she talks about the portrayal of aging women in media and society that we can use as a basis for rethinking how we view women of all ages in our own workforce.

Activity: Watch Naeemah Clark’s Ted Talk entitled “Why we need more stories of aging women on TV and in movies” on YouTube, here. It’s running time is less than 15 minutes.
