Webinar: Topics in Addiction – Organizational Change Management – Are We Fully Equipped to Support Peer Worker Integration?
September 14, 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm
As part of the Topics in Addiction seminar series, Brandee Izquierdo, MPA, Executive Director of Stop the Addiction Fatality Epidemic (SAFE) Project in Arlington, Va., will present “Organizational Change Management – Are We Fully Equipped to Support Peer Worker Integration?”
As the peer support workforce continues to expand across the nation, there is little to no research related to the integration of peer workers in both traditional and non-traditional behavioral health settings. Organizational context is one of the most common barriers in terms of peer worker integration, and peer workers face an added layer of complexity associated with stigma and discrimination, making change all the more challenging. Therefore, this seminar will focus on readiness for change and assessing employee commitment to peer worker integration.
Registration is required, with a Zoom link to be provided to those who register.
This seminar is cosponsored by Penn State Clinical and Translational Science Institute.
Topics in Addiction is the monthly gathering of the Addiction Center for Translation. Topics are presented in accessible ways to be inclusive of all regardless of training or background. The program hopes to reach not only scientists, clinicians, and trainees at Penn State, but also everyone in the community with interests in addiction and its widespread implications on research, clinical work, medical education, policy, and the community.
The group meets on the second Tuesday of the month during the academic year from noon to 1 p.m. via Zoom, and sessions are recorded.
