Webinar: Addiction Symposium Keynote – “The Invisible Impact of Gender: Overdose and HIV Risk Environment of Street-based Female Sex Workers

The keynote speaker for the sixth annual Penn State Addiction Symposium will be Susan Sherman, Professor of Health, Behavior and Society at Johns Hopkins University, Bloomberg School of Public Health, and newly endowed Bloomberg Professor of the American Health in Addiction and Overdose.

Sherman will present “The Invisible Impact of Gender: Overdose and HIV Risk Environment of Street-based Female Sex Workers,” in which she will describe the unique risks faced by women who use drugs and sell sex. She will describe a full-service drop-in center and how it has functioned during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the police‚Äôs role in overdose and HIV/STI outcomes for women who use drugs and sell sex.
