Webinar: Biostatistics, Epidemiology and Research Design (BERD) Seminar – Data4Action: The Centre County COVID-19 Cohort Study
January 26, 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm
Penn State Clinical and Translational Science Institute’s Biostatistics, Epidemiology and Research Design (BERD) Recent Topics in Research Methods Seminar Series will present “Data4Action: The Centre County COVID-19 Cohort Study.”
Presenter is Matthew Ferrari, PhD, associate professor of biology and member of the Center for Infectious Disease Dynamics at Penn State.
The Centre County COVID-19 Cohort Study is a collaborative effort between Penn State’s Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences, Social Science Research Institute and Clinical and Translational Science Institute to study the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the Centre County region. This novel collaboration seeks to study the biological, social and cultural impacts of the pandemic and mitigation efforts. Since summer 2020, this project has enrolled more than 2,000 Centre County residents and Penn State University Park students. Through longitudinal surveys and bio-specimen analyses, the team is quantifying the impacts of the pandemic on both the resident and itinerant student populations.
In his talk, Dr. Ferrari will discuss the ongoing project, the early insights on the prevalence of SARS-CoV-2 antibodies in these two populations and the opportunities to use this project as a foundation for future research.
Registration is required, with a Zoom link to be provided to registered participants in advance of the event.
