Webinar: COVID-19 – A Spotlight on Overcoming Diversity-Related Health Disparities
January 15, 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm
The Office for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at Penn State Health is presenting a webinar titled “COVID-19: A Spotlight on Overcoming Diversity-Related Health Disparities.”
Registration is required, with a Zoom link to be provided to registered participants in advance of the event.
Join us for the inaugural virtual roundtable addressing diversity as related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Participants include Penn State Health medical experts and community leaders along with moderator Lynette Chappell Williams, Vice President and Chief Diversity Officer for Penn State Health. The discussion will address:
- How disparate populations have been affected since the start of the pandemic
- Barriers to care for minority patients
- An overview of the current COVID-19 vaccines
- Fears about vaccination
- Ways that communities and health organizations can come together to encourage vaccine adoption
The Office for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion is hosting this event to shine a light on how the coronavirus has disproportionately affected minority populations in Berks, Cumberland, Dauphin and Lancaster counties. The office’s goal is to work toward a collective commitment to helping these populations achieve greater equity in health care.
