Webinar: Health Services and Behavioral Research seminar – “Beyond Opioids – Understanding the Changing Substance Misuse Landscape”

“Beyond Opioids – Understanding the Changing Substance Misuse Landscape” will be presented by Joel Segel, PhD, assistant professor of health policy and administration at Penn State and member of Penn State Cancer Institute.

Dr. Segel’s work focuses on identifying and evaluating opportunities for value in the health care system with a particular focus on two areas: cancer prevention and treatment, and opioid use disorder. He is currently co-leading an evaluation of the Pennsylvania Coordinated Medication-Assisted Treatment Program for treating opioid use disorder. Dr. Segel is also principal investigator of a Department of Defense grant to understand variations in cancer screening, prevention and treatment within the military health system. Dr. Segel has also been a co-investigator for work surrounding the Pennsylvania Rural Health Model, a novel global budget program targeting rural Pennsylvania hospitals.
