Webinar: High Throughput Automation of Synthetic DNA and RNA on Nanostructured Ceramic Films
October 20, 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm
On Oct. 20, the College of Engineering will be hosting a special webinar featuring Dr. Mario Blanco, PhD, President & CEO of Nanopec, a leading provider of nano-porous ceramic slides that enhance fluorescent signals for early detection of particular biomarkers. Nanopec’s mission is “to accelerate precision medicine and biotechnology discoveries through its patented and customizable nanotechnology platforms.”
Dr. Blanco holds a PhD in Physical Chemistry from UCLA. After working in the chemical and software industry for 10 years he was recruited by Caltech and NASA/JPL as a Research Scientist (1993-2010) and Senior Manager. He has 14 granted patents, over 65 refereed science articles, and 15+ years’ experience in three prior startups: Program Manager at Molecular Simulations (Sunnyvale, CA), CSO at Liox Power (Pasadena, CA), and CEO at CeliacAid (Temple City, CA).
He founded Nanopec Inc. in 2017 to enable Synthetic DNA full automation to protect, heal and rejuvenate the human body. Dr. Blanco was recently featured by AzBio as one of the most promising CEOs for the Biotech industry in Arizona and Nanopec was recognized by The Flinn Foundation as a top 6 new startup. Under his leadership Nanopec has filed 5 patents and established national and international R&D collaborations with some of the largest DNA banks and CDMOs. He is known for a lifetime of mentoring young promising scientists, engineers and entrepreneurs.
