Penn State Hershey strongly encourages all faculty and staff to get the flu vaccine each year, though we do not require it. The hospital provides free flu vaccinations for any and all faculty and staff who would like one. During flu season, employees who have not been vaccinated are required to wear a surgical mask when within six feet of a patient during inpatient and outpatient clinical encounters. Faculty and staff who have gotten a flu shot are given a sticker to be placed on their ID badge to indicate that they have received the vaccine.
