Community Relations offers grants to employees, students working with community partners on health needs

Penn State Health Community Relations offers grants to employees and students working on community programs that address priorities identified in the 2018 Community Health Needs Assessment. Applications are accepted annually from July to October and are awarded from January to December for up to $5,000 each. Priority will be given to sustainable start-up projects that positively affect health in the community.

Applications may also be submitted to support pre-existing programs to continue their good work.

All Penn State Health and Penn State College of Medicine employees and students that apply must do so with a community partner. Not only do these grants provide local health programming, but they also:

  • engage employee talent in community outreach;
  • help develop an organizational culture of community health improvement; and
  • provide employees and students with the opportunity to learn from community partners and better understand the social influences on health that patients experience outside of the hospital walls.

Application deadline is Oct. 1, 2020. Applications will be reviewed in October and announced in November to begin Jan. 1, 2021.
