Yoga for Complete Health offered for campus employees

As part of its HR-funded offerings for Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and Penn State College of Medicine employees, University Fitness Center is offering a new employee wellness class, Yoga for Complete Health.

The class is taught by fitness center exercise physiologist Adrienne Cray, an RYT200-certified yoga instructor.

This yoga class is designed for those with chronic diseases, such as diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol. This will be a beginner’s yoga class, mindfully leading participants through yoga poses specific to managing these chronic diseases. Participants will improve their posture by focusing on the core muscles and build total body strength by establishing a new healthy lifestyle practice that can be done anywhere.

Mats, straps and blocks will be provided for each participant. Those attending should dress in clothes they can comfortably move in. Shoes are optional. If wearing shoes, they must be supportive and enclosed.

The class is offered 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursdays from Feb. 20 to Mar. 26.

The program is offered at no charge for campus employees regardless of whether they are fitness center members or non-members. As an HR-funded wellness class, there is no charge for employees to register and join the class roster. Part of the registration process requires attendees to agree to a payroll deduction of the usual class price of $72 if they do not attend a minimum of four out of the six classes.

See class details and register online here.
