Art, writing and photos welcomed for 2021 edition of Wild Onions journal
Wild Onions, a publication for the literary and visual arts, welcomes submissions of original, not previously published literary, artistic or photographic work on all topics for its 2021 edition. Faculty and staff (both clinical and non-clinical), patients, families, students and volunteers associated with Penn State Health and Penn State College of Medicine are welcome to submit up to five items per person on any topic.
Deadline for submissions is Jan. 15, 2021.
The 2021 theme for Wild Onions is “Vision.” The journal describes the theme as follows:
“The word vision means many things. Webster’s defines vision as ‘something that you imagine, something that you see or dream, a picture that you see in your mind.’ Many of us begin each year with a new list of resolutions – goals for us to accomplish. For most, the vision we had for 2020 has taken an abrupt turn. We now see, dream or imagine through a different lens. While our view of the horizon may have changed, the experiences of 2020 have given us an opportunity to discover in ourselves a resilience. Many of us have a new appreciation for the blessings in our daily lives; we have also experienced tragedy and loss. Some of us see ourselves in a new light, as what was once in the background has been brought into focus. For others, the salient features of our lives are being seen by others for the first time. Every member of our community of patients, families, students, staff and providers has a story to tell. We encourage you to share your vision with us.”
