On Wednesday, July 4, 2012, thousands of people crowded the front lawn of Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center for “An American Salute,” an Independence Day celebration featuring the Hershey Symphony Orchestra. The first half of the concert featured “A Year in the Life of the Hershey Symphony,” with a mix of selections including classical, pops, Broadway, Star Wars and a preview of the symphony’s season opening “Simply Sinatra” concert. During the second half, the orchestra was joined by vocalists and presented “A Salute to America,” with several selections celebrating America and providing a special tribute to the military.
