Hope on 2 Wheels visits Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital
Thirty bicyclists who either have type 1 diabetes or a direct family member with the disease pedaled more than 140 miles from Camp Nejada in northern New Jersey to central Pennsylvania. The group – Hope on 2 Wheels – ended their trek at Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital in the evening hours of July 31. Hope on 2 Wheels uses cycling to raise awareness about type 1 diabetes and funding for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation through JDRF's Ride to Cure Diabetes program. Upon arrival in Hershey, group members were greeted by patients, their families, Children's Hospital staff and others. Also, Penn State Hershey Medical Center's signature Crescent was lit in royal blue on the evening of July 31 to signify diabetes awareness.
