Medical students reflect on their innovative roles as patient navigators
In this video, four first-year medical students at Penn State College of Medicine talk about their experiences as patient navigators since October 2014. The College of Medicine is among only 11 of the nation’s medical schools—and the only one in Pennsylvania—to earn a $1 million grant from the American Medical Association to transform the way medical students are prepared for the health system of today. The College of Medicine developed a new component of the medical school curriculum called Systems Based Learning, in which students serve as patient navigators at health care sites across the region.
