College of Medicine welcomes Class of 2022

Physicians-in-training attend orientation, learn what to expect while having fun

Penn State College of Medicine welcomed 152 new medical students from both Hershey and University Park with orientation from July 10 through 13.

For three days in Hershey and one day in University Park, the Class of 2022 engaged in presentations, workshops, group discussions and lawn games as they familiarized themselves with life in medical school.

Dr. A. Craig Hillemeier, dean of Penn State College of Medicine, chief executive officer of Penn State Health and senior vice president for health affairs at Penn State, and Dr. Terry Wolpaw, vice dean for educational affairs, kicked off the event with a welcome followed by presentations, lunch and campus exploration time.

In between sessions on the curriculum, diversity and financial aid, the class had the chance to enjoy some ice cream from Penn State Berkey Creamery and participate in lawn games including the “human knot,” relay races and Extreme Rock, Paper, Scissors.

The students started classes on July 16.
