Medical Center, Hershey Symphony celebrate Independence Day with free concert
The air was filled with movie themes and patriotic music as the Hershey Symphony Orchestra performed on the front lawn of Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. Thousands of people attended “An American Salute,” the annual Independence Day celebration, which took place on Tuesday, July 3.
The first half of the program featured familiar music from several movies, including Jurassic Park, Star Wars, The Incredibles and Pirates of the Caribbean.
The second half kicked off with the Star Spangled Banner and included several patriotic selections that celebrate America and pay special tribute to those who have served in the armed forces. The orchestra performed favorites such as God Bless America, Battle Hymn of the Republic and Stars and Stripes Forever.
This marked the 15th year for the concert.
Hershey Symphony Orchestra was established as a chamber ensemble in 1969 by a group of Hershey Medical Center physicians and staff.
