Penn State Health St. Joseph names senior director of development

Mary “Missy” Orlando has joined Penn State Health St. Joseph as senior director of development for the St. Joseph Medical Center Foundation. In this role, she is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive fundraising and donor relations program that includes an immediate and long-term cultivation, solicitation and stewardship plan for benefactors. She leads the current foundation staff in achieving key goals with the assistance of the foundation board.

“Missy joins Penn State Health St. Joseph with a long history of executive leadership in which she has fostered results-driven business development, strategic planning and team building talents that have driven organizational results,” says John Morahan, president. “We are confident she will prove to be an integral member of our leadership team.”

Most recently, Orlando owned and operated Strategy12 Consulting, where she worked exclusively with both for-profit and non-profit health care clients helping them with all facets of strategy development, branding, marketing and philanthropy.

Orlando also served as executive vice president, chief marketing and sales officer for Caron Treatment Centers in Wernersville, Pa., and was responsible for national business development and key marketing and public relations functions. Chief among her accomplishments during her eight-year tenure was building the business development infrastructure that resulted in revenue growth of $60 million.

Orlando currently serves on the Penn State Berks Advisory Board. A PhD candidate at Alvernia University in Reading, she holds a master’s degree in business administration from LaSalle University, Philadelphia, and a bachelor’s degree in business marketing administration from Penn State.
