Penn State Health St. Joseph opens Drive-Through COVID-19 testing location
In response to the growing need for easy-to-access COVID-19 testing, Penn State Health St. Joseph has opened a drive-through testing site on its Bern Township Campus, located at 2500 Bernville Road in Reading.
Drive-through testing is available only for patients who have been evaluated by a provider and given an order for the test.
The drive-through site will be open Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Testing is free and available to patients of any age with the doctor’s order. Patients will be asked to present their doctor’s order, photo identification and insurance card.
COVID-19 may cause cough, fever or shortness of breath. Most individuals will have mild illness. Some people, particularly individuals over 60, those with underlying health problems and pregnant women may have more serious illness requiring hospital care. Penn State Health recommends that anyone with concerns that they may have COVID-19 call their provider, or the Pennsylvania Department of Health at 1-877-PA-HEALTH, before going to a clinic, urgent care center, or emergency department.
