Penn State football team makes virtual visit Tuesday
For several years, the Penn State football team has made a surprise summer visit to the Children’s Hospital. This year, because of COVID-19, the team will spread cheer virtually through a special Facebook LIVE event on Tuesday, July 14, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Participants can join @PSUFball on Facebook to hear from players and coaches, play games and meet a few special guests.
The event will culminate with a salute to health care heroes. All Penn State Health and College of Medicine employees are invited to participate by talking a selfie or group photo and submitting it to psfbplayerdev@psu.edu. Be mindful of your surroundings when taking the photo to make sure no patients or other people are in the background. You may submit photos any time before 3 p.m. on Tuesday, July 14 for possible inclusion at the end of the Facebook LIVE event.
While the public Facebook event is taking place, many other players and coaches will participate in private, virtual visits with patients at the Children’s Hospital and Hershey Medical Center. Thanks to Child Life staff, nurse managers in the participating pediatric and adult units and Patient Experience, patients will be able to connect with team members using hospital iPads.
