Penn State Health, Lebanon Valley College partner to provide student health care
A Penn State Health physician will serve as medical director at Lebanon Valley College’s Shroyer Health Center, through a partnership between the college and the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.
Dr. Levelle Drose-Bigatel, a family medicine physician at the Medical Center, will be joined at the clinic by an advanced care practitioner (nurse practitioner or physician assistant) from Penn State Health. A licensed practical nurse from the health system will oversee the college’s contact tracing program, for which 18 college staff members have completed training.
In addition to her general directorship duties, Drose-Bigatel will advise college staff regarding the care of students with suspected or confirmed COVID-19, refer students for COVID-19 testing and provide guidance to the college on public health and infectious disease plans and protocols, drawing on expertise from Penn State Health and Penn State College of Medicine.
The arrangement is part of an effort by Lebanon Valley College to expand on- and off-campus clinical care for students. In addition to Shroyer Health Center, students also have 24/7 access to virtual care through Penn State Health On Demand as well as in-person care at Penn State Health Medical Group—Palmyra.
