Butz Family of Companies invests in future Hampden, Lancaster hospitals, children’s health
Alvin H. Butz, Inc. has committed $500,000 through the Butz Foundation to support Penn State Health’s two newest community hospitals, Hampden Medical Center and Lancaster Medical Center, Children’s Miracle Network and Four Diamonds Mini-THON®.
The emergency room lobby and waiting area at Hampden Medical Center and a waiting area on the main concourse of Lancaster Medical Center will be named for Butz in recognition of the company’s gift.
“The Butz Family of Companies shares Penn State Health’s commitment to helping central Pennsylvanians thrive,” said Greg Butz, president and CEO of Alvin H. Butz, Inc. “We are proud to partner with Penn State Health to make quality health care accessible for more people and families in the communities where we live, work and build.”
Alvin H. Butz, Inc. operates in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware and includes sister companies Alexander Building Construction Co. and Shoemaker Construction Co.
“The Butz Family of Companies is a consistent, innovative leader in building strong communities and expanding economic opportunity across central Pennsylvania,” said Steve Massini, CEO of Penn State Health. “We are deeply grateful for their investment through the Butz Foundation to improve health for people in our community—our family members, friends and neighbors and especially children in need.”
Penn State Health Hampden Medical Center is slated to open to patients in October 2021, giving residents of Cumberland and Perry counties and the broader Harrisburg area access to Penn State Health’s acute care services closer to home. Penn State Health Lancaster Medical Center, scheduled for completion in summer 2022, will provide residents of Lancaster and York counties with high-quality, patient-centered care.
The Butz Foundation is a longstanding partner of Children’s Miracle Network, and their most recent gift will provide additional support for pediatric research, family-centered programs and equipment purchases that make more miracles possible for sick and injured children and their families.
Additionally, the Butz Foundation’s support for the Southern Lehigh High School Mini-THON program will help Four Diamonds develop the next generation of leaders and philanthropists—students in kindergarten through 12th grade—who are working to conquer childhood cancer. To date, Four Diamonds Mini-THONs have raised $49 million to assist children being treated at Penn State Health Children’s Hospital and their families through superior care, comprehensive support and ground-breaking research.
