Penn State Health names Roush vice president of Heart and Vascular Services
Penn State Health has appointed Holly Roush to the newly created position of vice president of Heart and Vascular Services.
The health system created the position as part of its efforts to seamlessly deliver advanced, personalized care and the high-value, close-to-home care people with heart and vascular diseases need.
“Holly will lead operational strategy and foster enhanced coordination for our heart-related programs across all of Penn State Health’s hospitals and medical group practices throughout the region,” said Tom Stoessel, executive vice president. “Her experience as a proven leader in clinical services, operations and strategic planning will prove key to our ability to deliver the high quality care our patients need and deserve.”
Roush has been with Penn State Health for nearly 25 years, most recently as director of operations for the Heart and Vascular Institute at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. In that position, she was responsible for all operational and professional practice functions of the institute, comprising a group of more than 100 physicians and advanced practice providers, and more than 130 clinical and support staff. She was a critical part of the Hershey Medical Center heart and vascular team that has produced outcomes for ventricular assist device (VAD) and transplant patients that are among the very best in the nation.
Roush’s tenure with Penn State Health began in 1996 as a direct care nurse for Hershey Medical Center. In 2005, she joined the Heart and Vascular Institute as clinical head nurse before her promotion to practice director in 2009 and director of operations in 2016.
A critical care registered nurse, Roush earned a master’s degree in nursing administration at Penn State and a bachelor’s degree in nursing at Messiah College, Grantham, Pa. She also completed the Penn State Health Leadership Academy for Excellence in Academic Medicine in 2018.
