Visco named April recipient of Excellence in Enhancing Diversity and Inclusion Award
Ashley Visco, Penn State Health community health director, received the April Excellence in Enhancing Diversity and Inclusion Award.
Visco is honored for pursuing health equity across Penn State Health and the communities it serves. Her work includes helping to open a COVID-19 screening site in Hershey that later expanded into diverse communities, improving health access in marginalized communities and increasing trauma-informed care for patients.
Visco is also recognized for her nutrition and food outreach, expansion of health screenings and flu vaccinations, and partnership with organizations to better understand how to support the communities Penn State Health serves.
Visco named Gloria Merrick, executive director of the Latino Hispanic American Community Center in Harrisburg, as her “Hidden Hero,” saying she’s “felt humbled that our team could be a small part of the truly amazing work that Gloria and her team accomplish each day.”
