WellSpan and Penn State Health announce agreement on transition of emergency medical services in Chambersburg area
WellSpan EMS and Penn State Health Life Lion have finalized an agreement to transition management of emergency medical services (EMS) in the Chambersburg area from Penn State Health to WellSpan Health, effective later this summer.
As part of the agreement, team members of Penn State Health Life Lion in Chambersburg will be given the opportunity to join WellSpan EMS. The agreement will also include the transition of equipment and other assets of Penn State Health Life Lion in Chambersburg. Citizens who subscribe to the existing ambulance membership program will not be impacted. This membership program will be transferred to WellSpan EMS.
Penn State Health Life Lion has provided emergency medical services and ambulance services in Chambersburg and surrounding communities since December 2020 when the services transitioned from the West Shore Advanced Life Support (ALS) organization. Including its years as West Shore ALS, this division of Penn State Health Life Lion has provided emergency medical and ambulance services in Chambersburg for 25 years.
Regionally, WellSpan EMS recently expanded emergency services and patient transport to communities such as Manchester, Spring Grove, Waynesboro and Christiana, among others.
Penn State Health Life Lion provides emergency medical services to approximately 60 communities across seven counties in south central Pennsylvania.
