Holy Spirit Medical Center celebrates Gentile for 30 years of volunteer service

Holy Spirit Medical Center leaders and coworkers celebrated Sally Gentile’s 30 years of volunteer service, surprising her with flowers, a cake and certificate of recognition.

Gentile began her volunteer work during December 1993. She and her late husband George were looking for a place to contribute in their community and enjoyed the atmosphere at the hospital when they visited patients.

“This is the best place to serve,” Gentile said. “I’ve done everything. I would tell those considering volunteering that it gives you a purpose and an opportunity to be with good people.”

When asked about changes she has seen over the years, Gentile thinks growth and transition have had the biggest impact.

Gentile currently assembles welcome packets for all the nursing teams. She works in the mail room supporting Tom Mcbride, manager, Supply and Logistics. While congratulating Gentile, Mcbride said, “We are blessed to have you.” The respect is mutual, as Gentile responded, “You’re never going to take me away from Tom.”
