Penn State Health names Snyder president of Hampden and Holy Spirit medical centers

Penn State Health has appointed Kyle Snyder to the position of president of its Hampden and Holy Spirit medical centers on a permanent basis.

Snyder joined Penn State Health in 2020 as chief operating officer of Holy Spirit Medical Center. He was appointed senior vice president and regional chief operating officer for Penn State Health’s Hampden and Holy Spirit medical centers in June 2022, before taking on the role of interim president in July 2023.

As permanent president for Hampden and Holy Spirit, Snyder will set the standard for operational excellence in the region, with a focus on improving access to care and providing an exceptional patient experience.

“Kyle has demonstrated exemplary leadership over the years, serving in key positions and helping us navigate through an ever-changing health care environment,” said Deborah Addo, president and chief operating officer for Penn State Health. “He played a major role in the construction and opening of Hampden Medical Center and continues to be a committed partner as we grow to improve access into our academic health system.”

Previously, Snyder had served as the chief administrative officer for Geisinger Holy Spirit, where he oversaw the operations of Holy Spirit Hospital, Holy Spirit Medical Group and Holy Spirit Emergency Medical Services. Snyder established the direction for clinical program growth at Geisinger Holy Spirit and guided its investment of capital, recruitment of physicians and staff, and transition from a community hospital to a regional referral center for south central Pennsylvania.

During his tenure at Geisinger Holy Spirit, Snyder and his leadership team facilitated multiple physician practice acquisitions and developed and executed numerous business plans for expansion of services, including its Advanced Endoscopic Ultrasound, Level II Trauma Center, pediatric inpatient unit and Gamma Knife Radiosurgery Center.

Snyder’s prior positions include serving as the associate vice president for surgery and anesthesia at Geisinger Health System, Danville, Pa., administrative director of emergency medicine at WellSpan Health, York, Pa., and administrator of the division of nursing at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Cleveland.

Snyder earned a bachelor’s degree in health policy and management from Providence College, Providence, R.I., and a master’s degree in health administration from Cornell University, Ithaca, N.Y. He also completed an administrative fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.

Snyder’s appointment to the role is effective Feb. 4.
