RecFest 2024 highlights range of recreational activities for all ages and abilities
On Saturday, Sept. 28, people of all ages and abilities came together to participate in an inclusive event that celebrated adaptive sports and recreational activities. Penn State Health RecFest 2024, held at the Spooky Nook Sports Complex in Manheim, was hosted by Penn State Health Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in partnership with Penn State Health Rehabilitation Hospital.
The event offered a diverse range of adaptive sports, allowing participants to engage in cycling, tennis, field hockey and soccer, alongside specialized wheelchair sports such as basketball, rugby, and lacrosse. Attendees had the opportunity to not only partake in these activities but also explore resources tailored to individuals with disabilities, including service dog demonstrations and driving programs designed to enhance mobility and independence.
Penn State Health RecFest 2024 welcomed individuals with both visible and invisible disabilities, as well as their families, friends and caregivers. The event offered a supportive environment where participants could discover new passions, gain confidence and build connections with others. Whether through sports, educational resources or simply enjoying the day together, RecFest aimed to empower individuals of all abilities to lead active and fulfilling lives.
