Healthgrades ranks two Penn State Health hospitals among America’s Best

Two Penn State Health hospitals have once again been recognized among the nation’s top-performing hospitals, earning spots on Healthgrades’ America’s Best Hospitals list for 2026.
- Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center was recognized as one of America’s 50 Best Hospitals for the third year in a row, placing it among the top 1% in the nation for overall clinical excellence year over year.
- Penn State Health Holy Spirit Medical Center was recognized as one of America’s 250 Best Hospitals, for the second year in a row, placing it in the top 5% in the nation for overall clinical excellence.
To determine the top 250 U.S. hospitals, Healthgrades evaluated clinical performance for approximately 4,500 hospitals across more than 30 common procedures and conditions. Healthgrades’ analysis also found that outcomes vary widely between the nation’s highest- and lowest-performing facilities. If all hospitals performed similarly to America’s 250 Best, an average of 211,370 lives could have been saved during the 2022-24 study period, according to the announcement.
“These recognitions reflect the extraordinary dedication of our physicians, nurses and care teams who deliver high-quality, compassionate care every day,” said Dr. Michael Kupferman, CEO of Penn State Health. “Being ranked among the best in the nation, while remaining deeply rooted in the communities we serve, reinforces our commitment to providing accessible, affordable and comprehensive care close to home.
In addition to hospital performance, Penn State Health also ranked in several specialty award categories recognizing superior patient outcomes among key service lines. The full list of awards is available here.
