Learning Objectives – participants will be able to:
- Describe how timely recognition, appropriate treatment, and accurate documentation contribute to quality care and outcomes for patients with sepsis
- Differentiate between SIRS, sepsis, severe sepsis, and septic shock
- Differentiate CMS SEP-1 requirements from Penn State Health sepsis clinical indicators and explain the purpose of each
- Apply best-practice documentation principles to accurately reflect the patient’s clinical condition
