Hershey Lecture in Medical History—Save the Date
April 2, 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm
Samuel J. Redman, PhD, Professor of History at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and Director of the Public History Program, will present Catacombs of Science: Human Remains Collections in the 19th Century and Today on April 2, at 6:30pm, at the Mütter Museum in Philadelphia. Members of the College of Medicine and Penn State Health will be able to attend the event free of charge in person or via Zoom.
Prof. Redman is the author of three books, including Bone Rooms: From Scientific Racism to Human Prehistory in Museums (Harvard University Press).
This talk is organized in conjunction with the Health Humanities Consortium conference in Philadelphia, sponsored by Thomas Jefferson University and the Sidney Kimmel Medical College. Made possible by the generous endowment of the Hershey Lecture in Medical History, the talk will take place in the historic College of Physicians Mütter Museum and consider the past, present, and future of medical museums and specimen collections.
