Complementing the National Library of Medicine exhibit “The Literature of Prescription” (on display at Harrell Health Sciences Library from January 27 to March 8, 2025), this lecture by Bernice L. Hausman, PhD, Cline Professor of Humanities in Medicine and Chair of Humanities, will examine Charlotte Perkins Gilman’s ideas about the nature of men and women, healthy sexuality, and marriage, and explore how her theory of gynocentric evolution motivated eugenicist and racist beliefs.
