Inclusion Academy, Culturally Responsive Care: Addressing Bias and Assumptions in Supporting Military Members, Veterans, and their Families.
September 24, 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm

Military members, veterans, and their families represent a diverse population with unique experiences, strengths and challenges. Stereotypes and assumptions can create barriers to effective communication, trust and equitable care. Understanding the realities of military culture and the varied experiences of those who serve is essential for providing meaningful support.
This webinar will examine common biases surrounding military-affiliated populations and explore how military service, family dynamics, transitions to civilian life, and health-related experiences can impact well-being. Participants will gain practical strategies for recognizing personal assumptions, fostering cultural humility, and delivering trauma-informed, person-centered care that honors the experiences of service members, veterans, and their families.
Learning Objectives:
- Recognize common biases and assumptions about military-affiliated populations.
- Explain the unique cultural, structural, and health-related experiences of service members, veterans, and their families.
- Apply strategies to provide culturally responsive, equitable, and trauma-informed care.
