Public Health Sciences Grand Rounds Lecture: Biodefense, Migration Health, and Clinical Practice: Health Security is the Intersection of National Security and Public Health with Dr. Herb Wolfe

Former Department of Homeland Security’s Acting Chief Medical Officer and Acting Director of the Office of Health Security

Dr. Herb Wolfe has served 30+ years as a civil servant leader with a career spanning five Presidents over nine terms at seven agencies. Dr. Wolfe last served as the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Acting Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and the Acting Director of the Office of Health Security (OHS) overseeing medical, public health and workforce health and safety activities with responsibilities for health threats, border health security, food and agriculture resilience, total workforce protection, health informatics, regional medical operations and FSLTT health engagement. Prior to the being named the Acting CMO, Dr. Wolfe served as the Deputy CMO and OHS Deputy Director. Prior to the establishment of OHS in 2022, Dr. Wolfe served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Health Security in the DHS’s Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction Office.
