Be a Heart Walk Hero
Help save lives by taking a walk. Join the American Heart Association’s 2019 Capital Region Heart Walk on Sunday, Sept. 15 at 2 p.m. (check-in at 12:30 p.m.) on City Island in Harrisburg. The event raises funds to fight heart disease and stroke. You can choose a 1-mile or 5K (3.1-mile) course.
Deborah Berini, president of Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and Capital Region AHA board member, will be walking in memory of her father, who died of heart disease.
“Hershey Medical Center has a long history of being at the forefront of cardiac care,” she said. “I’m proud of the work we do and invite our employees to join me in supporting the health of our community through the Heart Walk.” Friends, family members and leashed pets are welcome to participate.
Heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women in America, and stroke is the fifth-leading cause, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
