Be prepared: Update your contact information in Penn State Health Alerts or Everbridge systems

September is National Preparedness Month ― a good time to make sure you receive timely information to keep yourself and others safe during an emergency situation. This has become even more important since the pandemic made our workforce less geographically connected.

Fewer of us are working in group environments where it’s common to share information when alerts are sent.

To ensure you get emergent information directly, all Hershey Medical Center, Penn State Health Medical Group, Shared Services and College of Medicine employees and students are strongly encouraged to update their preferred contact information in the Penn State Health Alerts emergency notification system.

Powered by the Everbridge platform, Penn State Health Alerts can communicate potentially lifesaving information before, during and after critical events. Alerts include severe weather, IT and power outages, missing infant or children alerts, workplace violence and other incidents. The emergency notification system enables instant communication via phone, email, text messaging, mobile app and other channels.

All employees and students are automatically enrolled in Penn State Health Alerts when they join the health system or College of Medicine. Their work or student email address listed in the Unified Directory is entered into the system. Anyone who uses personal devices for work, such as cell phones or personal email addresses, should consider adding their alternative contact information to the Penn State Health Alerts system.

Individuals who don’t wish to enter their personal contact information can install the Everbridge mobile app. See step-by-step instructions on how to set it up.

Penn State Health St. Joseph

Penn State Health St. Joseph uses a different module of Everbridge than the rest of the system. Employees should make sure their manager has their most current contact information so they can receive the notifications.
