Bronson named Associate Dean for Interdisciplinary Research
Sarah K. Bronson was named associate dean for interdisciplinary research at Penn State College of Medicine, effective Nov. 16, 2016.
Bronson, associate professor of cellular and molecular physiology, is currently director of research development and interdisciplinary research, co-director of the Junior Faculty Development Program, and leader of the Unified Campus Research Team. She has also provided leadership in graduate education as the director of the base program for the biomedical sciences graduate program from 2011 to 2014, director of the graduate core curriculum from 2012 to 2015 and director of the cellular and molecular biology graduate program from 2011 to present.
Bronson’s contributions to research include a strong history of scholarship and extramural funding, collaborative research, scientific peer review and program management. In July 2014, shortly after establishing the Research Concierge Service, she was appointed director of Research Development, which now encompasses the Research Concierge Service. The Research Concierge Service has had a specific focus on supporting early stage investigators; interdisciplinary programs, particularly large institutional grant applications; and connecting investigators as collaborators and mentor/mentees.
In her new role as associate dean for interdisciplinary research, Bronson will continue to direct Research Development, with new responsibilities to promote interdisciplinary research across the University, support interdisciplinary research teams, promote innovative translational research collaborations between basic science and clinical departments, and help investigators and teams position themselves to submit competitive interdisciplinary research proposals.
