Celebrate National Nurses Week May 6-12

It’s the annual week to care for caregivers.
National Nurses Week is May 6 to 12. The event has culminated on May 12, Florence Nightingale’s birthday, every year since 1993. Hospitals, patients and providers everywhere are celebrating the nation’s 4 million registered nurses.
“The nursing profession has consistently ranked as one of the most trusted professions,” said Kathleen Law, vice president of nursing at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. “Nurses are viewed as honest and ethical, offering guidance when difficult medical decisions must be made. They see patients and families often at their worst times and the stressful nature of the job may cause them to rethink their career choice. Nurses Week provides an opportunity to thank our nurses, to make them feel appreciated and valued.”
The Rewards and Recognition Committee of Milton S. Hershey Medical Center’s Nursing Department has planned an array of events for all employees throughout the week. Highlights include:
- Kickball, May 2, 7, 8 and 9 — 5:30-9 p.m., fields in front of the Crescent
- Hospital Carnival, Monday, May 6 — 4-8 p.m., Treehouse Café
- Chocolate Challenge, May 10 — 9-10 a.m., Dining Room A/B
- Movie Night, May 10 — 6:30-9:30 p.m., Junker Auditorium
